Founded in 2016 as a spin-off of the Social Cooperative Cantiere della Provvidenza in Belluno, which since 2013 has been active in the field of sericulture. Right from the outset, Cantiere Verde has operated in the same sector and in farming, promoting innovative and sustainable practices that aim to safeguard the local environmental heritage, with particular attention to labour inclusiveness for vulnerable and disabled people as well as those affected by social hardship.
It also manages a specialised mulberry field which is home to 2100 trees planted in 2014 in Pasa a Sedico (BL), together with Cantiere della Provvidenza and in partnership with Veneto Agricoltura.
It develops projects for the reintroduction of silkworm rearing and silkworm seed production in the province of Belluno, with focus on product and process innovation.
The skills of its staff dedicated to moriculture and sericulture are also the result of activities pursued as part of the project “La Rinascita della Via della Seta in Veneto” (The rebirth of the silk route in Venetian Region), nominated by the Venetian Region and presented in Brussels in 2015 as one of the best European Research&Innovation projects.
It periodically organises educational activities for schools and local events to raise awareness on moriculture and sericulture.
Together with other silkworm farmers, in 2017 it contributed towards founding the Network of Agricultural Companies “Bachicoltura Setica” (Fair sericulture).
