CREA Agricolture and Environmment at “Teorema, the word to the young”, an information talk show dedicated to the younger generations, to discuss about the projects underway to relaunch the Italian and European silk industry.
Italy was a leader in silk production, a supremacy maintained until the Second World War, when the decline began that led to the closure of the last reeling plants in the 1970s. Today, silk is again being produced in Italy. Fabrics, jewellery, creams, food, medicine, with silkworms you can do it all.
In this episode, we talked about the Horizon ARACNE project, coordinated by CREA Agricolture and Environmment for the relaunch of the Italian silk industry and the establishment of a European silk route, but also about the opportunities that the industry offers in terms of tourism development, culture promotion, environmental protection, and professional outlets for young people.
In the studio:
- Giuseppe Corti, Director of CREA Agriculture and Environment
- Silvia Cappellozza, CREA Agriculture and Environment Director (Head of the Laboratory of Sericulture of Padua)
- Professor Silvana Memmo, tailoring, patternmaking and merchandising teacher – Burgo Fashion Institute, Rome
Presented by journalist Adele Di Benedetto.
